Christmas tree lighting party

The Angel Tree

Christmas was a little brighter last year because of the overwhelming generosity of the Lake Toxaway community. In partnership with Lake Toxaway Charities, we have once again identified local families who need our help. Each family will be anonymously represented as an angel on our tree. We invite you to join us Thursday, December 5th, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM for our annual Christmas tree lighting party. Choose an angel and give back to the community we all love so much. If you’re leaving for the winter and want to help, please write a check for $250 payable to Lake Toxaway Charities.

Checks can be sent to:

Lake Toxaway Charities

PO Box 163

Lake Toxaway,NC 28747

All contributions are IRS tax deductible as we are a 501C3 agency.

Each $250 will provide food and gifts for the very less fortunate residents in the western part of Transylvania County (Rosman, Quebec, Balsam Grove, Sapphire, and Toxaway)

Halloweenfest 2019

Transylvania, Romania might be the origin of Count Dracula’s character, but Transylvania County and Brevard have the best celebration! (And it’s the closest Transylvania there is!)

We have a full day’s worth of family fun and light-hearted celebration planned for the spookiest day of the year! The Flight of the Vampire 5K, 10K, and Children’s Fun Run takes off in the morning from in front of the Post Office on West Main Street. Watch as vampires, zombies, and ghosts (disguised as runners) make their rounds around town.

Heart of Brevard’s street festival, featuring crafters, artists, games, and food, opens at 10:00am at Broad and Main Streets in downtown Brevard, and is sure to be fun for everyone in your family. Come to town in costume and enter the Costume Contest and Parade. This is for all ages, with cash prizes and a parade through town after the judging!

Old Time Music has never looked so good as it does in Brevard! A full slate of groups all day at the courthouse Gazebo gives you just a small taste of what is available in Transylvania County. Make sure you bring a chair and your dancing shoes!

Where better to give up your blood than in Transylvania?!? This year we welcome again The Blood Connection to Halloweenfest –  collecting blood for Transylvania Regional Hospital! You will also find Pumpkin Carving, Brevard Academy’s Pumpkin Plinko, and so many other things at Transylvania’s annual Halloweenfest!

And we don’t leave out your four-legged family members, either. Starting at the stage on West Main Street, the animals in this parade strut their stuff all through town! It is a true treat to see the creativity of these creatures – and their owners!

Everyone is sure to find something to please on this Spooktacular Halloweenfest in Transylvania County!!

Vernardos Circus

The Little Circus That Could

The Venardos Circus held its first performance in 2014

at the LA County Fair.

Created by former Ringling Bros. Ringmaster Kevin Venardos, the show featured a cast of 6 artists in a kind of Broadway/Circus Musical.  It was just
a little Circus... but it had great BIG dreams.

In the years since, Venardos Circus has grown into a living example of the power of dreams, reinventing the American Circus tradition for a new generation, and bringing joy to people everywhere.
